This is Makoto's entry to the contest for this week. Enjoy! ^^ Also, as I side note -- I spell Luffy as 'Rufi'. I know it's not official, but it's a habit now... "Luffy" looks really stupid to me, for some reason. *sigh*
Title: Keep Me Warm
Rating: PG
Pairing: Ace x Rufi (I -had- to. Really, I did. *sigh*)
Words: 204
Notes: Awwwwww.
Alabasta nights were always cold. Temperatures rarely stayed above the teens, and to a sea-faring pirate who was used to tropical whether, the cold, dry climate was the worst.
Rufi was one such pirate.
Ace, on the other hand, was never cold. Ever since he had eaten the Devil's Fruit, his body had maintained a certain warmth, heat seeming to radiate from his skin.
It was in this situation that the young captain found himself curled up, arms wrapped around his older brother, his head buried in the man's chest. Ace was holding Rufi tightly, shielding him from the cold.
The two boys cuddling like this was nothing new, but a lot had changed in three years.
Rufi head was cradled gently in the sand near Ace's, a gentle breeze blowing grains of sand across his cheeks and hair. Ace watched his brother carefully, noticing with a smile that he was beginning to grow up - even if it was slowly.
Carefully, Ace moved his lips towards his brother's, breathing warmth into him during the cold night. Rufi's eyes gently opened, meeting Ace's.
"Are you cold, Rufi?" Ace whispered slowly.
Rufi smiled back softly, scooting closer to his brother and falling back to sleep.
