Mankind has the tendency to seek some form of constancy in the ever-changing. It is in their nature, an instinct.
It is the reason why half of the Whitebeard pirates have families – wives, daughters and sons - whom they have abandoned to answer the call of the seas.
Simple wedding bands are only seen after night fall on the Moby Dick, by the warming fires of the dining hall.
By fire-light.
They’re not seen in the day for reasons most know of, but are unwilling to articulate.
Daylight is precious, bringing adventure, conquests and memories. They are also precious because blood is spilled, cannon fire whistles overhead, blood pounds through their veins and they’re reminded that they’re alive.
And of how fragile they are.
Fruit powers or accuracy with guns don’t matter on the seas. Don’t count. Don’t make a difference.
Wedding rings represent family outside of the rambunctious camaraderie on-board the Moby Dick. It is for steady fires and comfortable beds.
It holds no place in the sun, or in the battle for survival that the men face each new breaking dawn.
But it’s a constant reminder of being anchored to a place on land you could call home. For that, the men keep their reminders in their pockets or shoes. Somewhere easy to find (to send home, if—).
It is for this reason that jibes mask the understanding smiles (pained) when their first and second division commanders find their constancy in a similar way.
Only, it’s not in gold or silver, or set with precious stones.
The dark ring, solid in its presence, transcends what is skin-deep.
And the eternal loop which binds them will never be erased, just like the marks they bear for their father.
It is their permanent brand of constancy.

Marco's line about how much they mean to Whitebeard SLAYED MY HEART DEAD. ♥♥♥
And yeah Marco and Ace (especially Ace) probably wouldn't be that great with tiny easily losable rings LOL OH YOU GUYS. XD

I haven't actually noticed, but do any of them in OP wear rings? O_o Seems like something easy to lose when you're constantly hoisting/unfurling sails and fighting all over the place. XD

I've never thought about it but other than Crocodile, and probably a few other people, I don't think so. It would be something easy to lose. ON THE OTHER HAND I DON'T SEE CROCODILE UNFURLING A LOT OF SAILS LMAO. XD

Though, yanno, I'm starting to harbour a really irrational interest in him thanks to Oda and all his tsundere!Crocodile in the current arc. ): I mean, Croc COULDN'T have just gone from Zero to
HeroShichibukai. He must've had his own crew once. AND MUST'VE UNFURLED SAILS ONCE, RIGHT?Nao I wanna see it drawn. D:I was thinking, does Mihawk have rings? Doesn't seem very convenient for sword-fighting, but he's one Embellished Dude. :D

ANY MAYBE SOME DROOLINGMe too~~ And there's been too many hints and bits and pieces dropped about his past SO WE MUST SEE IT. And I can't wait. *_*
He doesn't but yeah you're right! It totally seems like he would. And maybe a shirt too. But that's probably for the best. :P
-shifty eyes-
Agrees with everything you said.
-nods-
MIHAWK HAS A RING HIDDEN SOMEWHERE.
..Check his pants..?
