Like the Ocean
Song: Ride Me Like a Wave - Janis Ian
Pairing: Sanji/Zoro
Rating: PG
Warnings: romantic fluff, introspection, metaphor
Words: 246
Sanji lay awake long after the swordsman had drifted to sleep, tracing the shadows of his face, only barely making out the curve of a lip and the faint furrow of brow in the darkened room. There were moments, like this, that seemed surreal. As though he'd wake alone at any moment, cold. And then Sanji would shift gently, move just a bit closer so that he could feel Zoro's breath on his cheek and could smell the ocean in his hair. And he remembered giving in. Remembered giving himself up to the churning that rose inside him each time he fought back-to-back with the man that lay beside him now. Each time he shared a victory, a grinning glance.
And as he memorized the swordsman's face, the eyes before him opened just enough to catch a flash of moonlit green, uncertain, wary, and then they softened, blinked and smiled. Sanji reached a pale hand to rest on Zoro's neck, rubbing idly at his ear, leaning in to taste the salt on his lips.
Rumor, story, myth, unfathomable, unattainable goal. Out on the unforgiving waters of the Grand Line, those who wasted their time looking for it were laughed at for their star-filled eyes, their childish dreams, their romanticism. But here in the earliest hours of morning, curled warm and safe, with his nose in Zoro's hair and his lips parted just enough to breathe the sea, Sanji swore All Blue was his.
hide me in your hollows
taste the salt that clings to me
shipwrecked in your shallows
scented by the sea
hide me in the wisdom of your thighs
ride me like a wave
chart my secret places
navigate my shores
map the ocean's traces
lick them from my pores
dry me with delusion and desire
ride me like a wave
cover me in spray
promise me you will stay
i remember mornings waking by your side
your scent on my pillow, fever in your eyes
cast upon the waters, shipless, i surrender
lead me to your harbor
drown me in delusion and desire
ride me like a wave
other seas may call you
other shore will shine
tempt you with their treasures
water into wine
still the safest harbor will be mine
ride me like a wave
ride me like a wave
