Here goes nothing....

I've had this idea planted in my head for AGES, yet never had the guts to write it. Now, I humbly submit my very first drabble for all to see. Hopefully it doesn't suck, and you'll get what I was going for.

Title: Long-Distance Call
Rating: PG?
Word Count: 297 (mega-edit, GO!)
Pairing: Nakama x Zoro
Warnings: One 'Thriller Bark' spoiler, but I bet most know already.
Topic: Stars

Zoro grumbled, yawning loudly, not happy at being woken up. Which was too normal on this ship. Stlll, you'd think he'd deserved some quiet.

But all he heard were Luffy, Usopp, and Chopper yelling like maniacs on deck. Also too normal.

Using far less care than he should, he stumbled half-asleep down the hallway to clock The Three Stooges quiet....Four Stooges. He never had a problem fighting the curly-cook, and he deserved it after joining in.

Now Nami. Can't hit her, but she might be hitting for him.

Now it's Franky shouting, Brooke's voice following.

...Was that Robin?

Instantly awake, he quickened his pace. Injuries be damned, Chopper can yell at him later!

Swords ready, Zoro grabbed the doorknob...only to stop, looking out the porthole. No enemies, everyone on the deck, twilight sky above. The crack in the doorway provided true audio.

"So, you really think she heard?"

"Of course! My voice can reach the sun!"

"Aah~! Really?!"

"This is silly, it's impossible to shout to heaven."

"Maybe so, Navigator-san, but there's no reason not to try, hm?"

"Ah, Nami-san and Robin-chwan's selflessness puts the stars to shame~!"

"Gaaah, you guys are so SUPER!"

"Really Franky, no need to cry."

"Idiot! I'm not crying!"

"Yooohohoho! Such a brilliant idea! Shall we continue then?"

A dark-haired under golden straw grinned from Sunny's 'head'. "YEAH! We'll do it all night if we have to!"

The swordsman leaned against the closed door; Wadou tightly in one hand, a cross-pendant ('for all who doubt') tied tightly to it's sheath, watching the stars appear from the sunset, listening to his crew with a watery grin. He'd made the right choice in the end, no doubt.

After all, who else but his nakama were loud enough to wake the dead?

I've only just started the Thriller Bark arc in the anime, so I don't think I've made it to the part eluded to, but I like your style :) Great job with the characters ;)

I think my favorite line was "...was that Robin?". Just the thought of her yelling at the sky sent me into a fit of giggles.

Really cute drabble. Zoro doesn't get enough love.

Aww.

It took me a couple of seconds to get it, but it was really touching. <3

Nyaa, I got to this really late, but I just had to say, I love it!

I wanted to cry when I realised what they were doing...
