Ace paused in the doorway of Whitebeard’s quarter’s unsure as he looked back over his shoulder at his new ‘Pops’ “I have one last question” he began hesitantly
Whitebeard gave a great sigh at that casting a sidelong glance at his 1st division commander. He’d thought that getting the fire-brat to agree to bear his name would be enough but he should have know better “What is it boy?”
Ace took a deep breath and looked up at Whitebeard expectantly “How’d you get the name Whitebeard?”
Whitebeard choked and spluttered on his Sake at that remark and even Marco’s mouth dropped toward the floor. An exasperated look on his face a he jabbed one giant finger at his face “Do you not see this thing on my face?”
“That’s a mustache.” He replied in all seriousness not noticing Whitebeard’s left eye start to twitch or Marco’s desperate attempts to get him to shut up as he continued unabated “although I supposed you got the name by default because honestly Whitemustache isn’t very piratey, in fact it sound more like a botched comic book hero than any…” and his rambling faded to snores as his narcolepsy kicked in.
Whitebeard raised one gigantic hand to backhand ace through his cabin wall (and the fourteen following walls) before pausing taking one look at the sleeping Ace and lowering his hand muttering something under his breath that sounded suspiciously close to “like kicking a puppy”
Marco who was pretending he didn’t hear that last comment slung the sleeping boy over his shoulder and carried him of to his own initiation party.
To this day Ace remains blissfully unaware just how narrowly he escaped a trip to the infirmary, and the fact he even HAD an initiation party because no one could wake him up.

Haha like kicking a puppy. Many people would think falling asleep on random moments is a ad thing but for ace it works in his disadvantage. Nice work.
