A continuation on my "habit" drabble. (just left Baratie, headed after Nami in Arlong Park)

He woke up—again.  Bored.  Exhausted by inactivity.  Confined by the stupid cook to the narrow cabin of Johnny and Yosaku’s boat.  He glared at the man in question, who slouched snoozing in the single chair at the base of the cot, feet propped on a crate near Zoro’s shoulder.  The round cabin window behind him was open and moonlight silhouetted the other man’s head, leaving his face in shadow.  

Zoro should be training, preparing for a rematch with Mihawk.  But the damn cook wouldn’t let him “ruin his handiwork”.  It really was a much better stitching job than he would have gotten from Johnny, he had to admit. 

He fingered the top of his wound gingerly, and absently drew his fingers down the neat, regular stitches one by one, dragging the blanket down as he went.  His half-closed eyes brooded on the cook.

Zoro’s hand reached the bottom of the stitches and he frowned wryly, glancing down at himself.  He gave into his urge and let his hand wander a little farther down…and hissed when it stretched over the wound at his right side. 

He switched to his left hand, silently slipped it beneath the blanket, under his waistband, and around himself.  He shifted his hips, spread his legs slightly, and started a gentle, rhythmic squeeze.  A quiet sigh escaped him.

A horrifyingly familiar “snap” rang through the little cabin.

Zoro’s exhale froze as the cook raised his lighter to his mouth.  The flame played over the smoker’s face as he inhaled and summoned a cigarette to life. He brought his twinkling eye to Zoro’s wide ones before flicking the lighter shut, leaving only the bright orange tip of the cigarette.

“Seriously, how the hell do you even have enough blood left in your body?”
