Summary: Posting an serious fic in a silly topic! HAH!
Victory with Luffy tasted like spicy burritos exploding in your mouth, like well-cooked meat and barbecue on sunny days. Victory with Luffy tasted so good that even the most dreary, boring, serious person breaks out in happiness pimples that yelled and laughed and stuck chopsticks up their noses, because no one could be sad while Luffy was around.
Victory with Zoro tasted like salt and hard work and achievement, like a great, tidal-wave feeling of elation when you get a recipe perfect, finally.
Victory with Nami tasted like fresh air and sea salts, like intellect. Which she would promptly use to gather all the shiny yellow metal things she could get her hands on, and even much she couldn’t.
Victory with Usopp tasted like hard work of putting icing on cake and cookies that would last the year, and next year, and next year, until they were dry and crumbly, and would still taste “really good” when Luffy found them in the very back of a cupboard, and like something that definitely wasn’t cowardice.
Victory with Chopper tasted like sweet things, like sugar-spun lollipops and sunflower seeds. It tasted a little like blood, too, because Chopper would always patch him up afterward with candy in hand, right after those vile concoctions posing as restoratives.
Victory with Robin tasted like something tangy and cool, simple yet delicate like someone who would actually accept and appricate his blackest coffee and finish every last drop of something that even Luffy disliked.
Victory with Franky tasted like party crackers, fun and a little silly, with exploding food and fried things. And Cola. Lots of it.
However, victory without nakama tasted like dust that needed desperately to be watered, like dead rocks, like nothing to eat, like poison.
So he collapsed and didn’t get up.
