Title: Acceptance
Words: ...more than there should be.  >_<;;  (400-ish)
Pairing: Zoro/Sanji
Topic: In-laws
Rating: PG for language

I really struggled with this... mostly because I wrote it in my head in the shower (and it was perfect, might I add) and then didn't have time to write it down afterwards, so I forgot half of it.  >_<  Story of my life.  I almost didn't post it at all becasue it wasn't coming out the way I wanted it to, but since I had most of it written on Sunday I decided to "force" the rest and post it anyway.  Hopefully it's not as bad as I think it is.  ^^

Zoro wasn’t always the most observant person around, but even he couldn’t help but notice Sanji’s ever-increasing interest with his swords as of late.  Even more curious than that, however, was his lover’s insistence of avoiding the topic at all costs; whatever Sanji’s reasons for his newest obsession, he obviously did not want Zoro to know about it.  But seeing as how Sanji’s style of ‘avoidance’ included sex as a means of distraction, Zoro was more than willing to stay silent on the matter, satisfied with simply keeping an eye on the cook once he was sure that his swords were not being tampered with.  (All three were as he had left them, and Zoro had expected no less, but he knew without a doubt that Sanji would have checked up on every nook and cranny in his kitchen had he found Zoro sneaking around in there, so the swordsman felt no guilt about being cautious).

However, even the promise of a more vigorous sex life was not able to keep Zoro silent when, after leaving his swords in the galley one evening while he fetched something from the hold at Sanji’s request, he returned to find his lover kneeling down and… talking?  To his swords.  What the hell is he doing?

“…what the hell are you doing?” Zoro demanded, his confusion growing when he noticed the distinct flush covering his lover’s face as Sanji relieved him of his burden and scurried over to continue preparing the meal.  “I don’t know what you’re talking about,” was the muttered reply, and Zoro scowled.

“The hell you don’t.  You’ve been hanging around my swords for weeks now, and we both know it.”  Zoro snapped.  “And just now… were you talking to them?”

Sanji froze for a moment, and then scoffed.  “Why the fuck would I be talking to your damn swords, marimo?”

Zoro bristled for a moment – what was wrong with talking to his swords? he did it all the time – before recognizing the cook’s deflection tactic for what it was.  “I don’t know, you tell me,” Zoro growled. “Because that sure as hell looked like what you were doing, and if you weren’t talking to them, then I don’t know what else you—”

“I wasn’t doing anything to your swords, Zoro!” Sanji interrupted, whirling to face the swordsman.  “I just…” and Zoro watched with morbid curiosity as his lover blushed bright red and shifted his gaze towards the floor.  “…I just wanted to know she approved, is all.  Of us, and… forget it.”  Sanji muttered, and turned back to the food.

Zoro stared at the cook’s back for a moment, more confused than ever, and then flicked his eyes over towards his swords.  His eyes focused on Wadou, sitting there innocently in its white sheath…

…and then suddenly widened and snapped back towards his lover.

Oh.  OH.

“…stupid love-cook,” Zoro muttered, wrapping his arms around a protesting Sanji, and fell in love all over again.
