It was the moment that made Luffy feel like the champion. The moment when he knew that no matter what happened after, it would all be okay.

Seastone cuffs came off quickly with help from his new waxy companion and without having to go around fighting some strong army of secret minions for the right one either. Just like that the warmth of Ace returned as he pressed against his back, ready for anything. Fighting spirit alive and well. As long as they were together these marine bastards didn’t stand a chance!

They did it. They saved him.

Ace had survived and Luffy had saved him with the help of all his brothers nakama. So that really meant they were really all champions.

Luffy gladly shared the glory...they had won the battle and the most important thing was he had got to Ace in time.

Of course that made losing the war mere minutes later that much more devastating.
