The Long Road Ahead
Nov. 21st, 2004 10:07 amYes, another story! O_O
This one is an entry into this week's theme, "debts". I hope you can figure out how it fit in, I didn't make it all that explicit.
Title: The Long Road Ahead
Rating: G
Pairing: Not really (I swear I'll write smut next time!)
Word Count: 174
Note: This story takes place shortly after the Arlong Arc
"There, that's the last of them."
Zoro winced, glad to be rid of his stitches at last. He reached his hand up...
"Don't scratch," Usopp yelled at him.
"We really need a doctor on this ship," Zoro muttered as he put his hand down.
"Tell me about it..." Usopp sat down next to the older man and sighed. There was a pause. "I can still picture it..." he shuddered a bit. "It was awful. I thought you were a goner!"
"I'm not that easy to kill."
"So I've noticed," Usopp replied with a smile.
Zoro got up and looked out over the railing. "You know, in some ways, I'm grateful to him..."
"Oh?"
"Yeah... before, I had some vague ideas about having to fight and train and improve myself. Now, though... I know what I need to do. And I know how hard it's going to be. I have something specific to aim for, and look forward to."
"Beating Mihawk."
"Yeah... and when that day comes, I'll thank him for what he gave me."

Another thing about that fight is, it's interesting to see how Zoro dealt with the defeat. he coulda been all whiny and despondent, but instead he actually used it as an opportunity to re-dedicate himself to his purpose. ^_^
Indeed... hehhehe....

Date: 2004-11-21 07:09 pm (UTC)Heh. Yeah. Zoro alone is enough to keep Chopper busy, I'm sure.
I've not seen any eps with Chopper yet, though I have seen the third movie and the soccer special.
Thanks. I picked Usopp partially because I hadn't had a story with him yet, because I remembered him helping Zoro when he was first injured (Johnny and Yosaku got him to the boat, but Usopp seemed to be doing the actual "doctoring"), and because he seems like the most likely candidate both in term of being willing and able to, and Zoro letting him.
