[identity profile] mishagirl.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] onepieceyaoi100
While we for [livejournal.com profile] talanokomis to choose a new topic, let's have a little community pow-wow.

1. It has been very slow lately. Weeks with one entry? Really!? Please vote in the poll and comment with any suggestions on what you think would help the situation.

2. Don't forget you we have tags now, so when you post could you please remember to tag at least the rating, pairing, and topic. I have forgotten here and there even but even a little help would be great on this.

3. We have a section of time that needs some tagging. Are there any volunteers to help [livejournal.com profile] serrende with some of that? Also! Co-mods please comment with any updates so we can re-group and we can see what else we need to do to get this stuff caught up.

4. What would you think of a OnePieceYaoi100 Ultimate Drabble Showdown where all the past winning drabbles face off against each other and the community votes until we have the best drabble of each year? (If this would happen it wouldn't be till after the new year so there'd still be time to try and get a winner in there).

I like it as it is (not that I'm really one to talk since I haven't participated in forever), but maybe just have a mod step in if the weekly winner fails to pass on the crown within 48 hours or if the new winner fails to choose a new topic within another 48 hours?

Good point. In those cases, what do you (and the rest of the comm) think should be done, if there's still no word from the winner, despite nudges from mods? Not that this seems pertinent right now or anything...

Well, you already got my update directly, but I'll still report in here: I'm ready to post an updated version of the old list of past topics with new data. Got a draft ready, the alphabetical list is added to the chronological list; 2007 and most of 2008 isn't on the latter.

All of 2010 is tagged, but not 2009 apart from December. 2008 remains untagged, and 2007 is only tagged up to June. Since entries for 2007 and the first eight months of 2008 can be found in Memories, I think we should focus on the time from September 2008 to November 2009.

I really really think that things will pick up when the Straw Hats are reunited. In general pairing oriented communities have slowed down quite a bit (I personally have as well, been writing a lot more gen in the past 2 years just because the dynamics I prefer to write haven't actually been present in curent canon) since it's been so long since we've had actual face to face crew time. With Oda hopefully giving us what we want soon (ie nakama time), perhaps we should hold off on changing anything too drastically until after the next few chapters come out. If the pace here still hasn't picked up, then I say we change things up more.

I think it works pretty good as it is, maybe you just whould change it to 2 weeks span instead ^^'

Like [livejournal.com profile] dethorats said, I think everything will pick up after the Strawhats get back together, so I'd like it if extensions were only given in the case of a slow week. In general I've noticed fanfic decreasing everywhere.

However, I think a bit of promotion wouldn't go amiss, especially if fandom does suddenly get busier.

Call me crazy, but I think giving the winner a random prize might be interesting; a shiny banner or icon, something they can brag about, put on their journals and feel that silly satisfaction of winning something completely useless in real life, but makes one very, very happy. You get the point^_^.
I'll even nominate myself as a banner maker if you like the idea. While I post stuff online phenomenally rare, I spend most of my time doing graphics and One Piece is one of my guilty pleasures. This (//s214.photobucket.com/home/Ama_xoxo/recentuploads?page=4) is an example of my work, that might be posted with the help of any gods out there sometime in the next yearXD. Tell me what you think.

Thank you; I'm glad you like them^^

To be frank, I kind of like the idea of doing a set banner+icon. While I don't think I could make a banner for each topic- not one to my liking anyway:D, an icon for each winner is something I can fill quite well into my schedule, leaving the banners either for the end of the month, when I'll have time to make them as I like.

I'm at work right now so I can't talk a lot, but I'll do a follow up post on this one so we can work out the details^^

What happens if there are three entries from the same author, or perhaps two by one, and then one by another. Will that still count as three entries, or is the rule that there should be three different authors?

Good work solving the problems this comm has had in the past! I hope this will mean an upswing!

Good question, esp. since the latter one was exactly what happened with the last prompt, although after two weeks I was just relieved there was more than just one entry.

On the one hand, I do think a win should be for a specific drabble/ficlet, rather than several - but to be honest that's mostly because it makes tagging easier. ;) On the other, it seems weird to choose between three entries that are all written by one person, and only one. If that was after one week, I'd advocate an extension.

More opinions on this much encouraged!
