So…I’ll give it another go! At the feast on Cocoyashi after defeating Arlong.
ONE SENTENCE EDITED FOR CLARITY
Green is for Envy
Whistling, the cook danced into Zoro’s sick room, a tray of food inexplicably unspilled in his twirling hand. “Dinnertime, my evergreen friend! Calamari-- seemed appropriate,” he said with a wink.
Sanji placed the tray on the side table with a flourish and turned to his bandage-swathed shipmate. He snorted at Zoro’s raised upper lip. “You will NOT ruin my mood! Not with my Nami waiting outside! Nami! Ooooh, Nami!” he gazed to the heavens in grateful supplication. Her praises, however, were cut off.
“Will you never shut up about that woman?!” Zoro snarled.
Sanji clapped his hand to his heart. “She’s an angel! That smile, the curve of her bare should…”
“She betrayed Luffy. How can you trust her? The witch...”
The cook started at Zoro’s vehemence. “Luffy trusts her, that’s good enough for me. What’s your problem?!” He cocked his head to the side with growing realization. He lowered his cigarette from his mouth slowly. “YOU’RE JEALOUS!”
Zoro froze, comeback clearly uncomfortably caught in his throat.
“Look, moss-for-brains,” he continued in a tone reserved for slow children. “Sure, we had a little fun. But that’s all it was. Ya know--two guys covering each other’s...um...backs when things are dry.”
Something like horror grew in Zoro’s chest. Or maybe hollowed it out.
Sanji sighed and shook his head. “Zoro, you cannot expect to compare to the real thing. To lay with a woman like that would…”
“Real thing?!” Zoro snorted. “She’s a thief and a liar. And, believe me--she's not that good a "lay", anyway.”
Sanji’s silence echoed through the room. Guilty color rose in Zoro’s cheeks, just as Sanji’s went white. It was Sanji’s turn to freeze, and to feel horror ice through his veins. His cigarette was crushed in the slowly forming fist.

You give lots of details to set the scene but still keep up with the 300 words =) congrats ! Now, I'm jealous ;)
We'll see if there's any challenger this week,
Thanks for writing this story, that was fun !

Date: 2012-10-30 11:57 am (UTC)**sigh** Nah, any scene painting was done by all the writers who came before, setting down the Zo-San framework that I could riff off of and thereby stay under 300 words! I stand on the shoulders of (very naughty) giants!
Now I will go and find this Shattering Love...
