This is funny. I saw the topic and went, 'yay! That's ZoSan all the way!'- then my muse said ‘no’, and out pops SmokerXAce... go fig. o_O;; Now, behold my amazing titling skills…
Title: A Bet
Rating: PG-ish
Pairing: SmokerXAce
Word Count: 300 (cut ‘n hacked ‘n cut some more…)
Notes: Watch as I again butcher punctuation with the criminal use of comma’s! ^_^;;
He froze- escape unlikely, cornered as he was in the junction of two walls. Abnormal for him to let his guard down far enough to turn his back on the other man, so obviously his enemy- confidence had taken him too far this time, it seemed.
"I'll bet you can't take me in the morning...", he had said when the proposition was made. Too cocky, sure of his ability, yet something about the man had piqued his interest, though he couldn’t place it. Of course the other man was a marine, but he liked dancing on the edge; danger and passion virtually the same.
Even now, a thrill of excitement churned with the trepidation in his stomach...
A bad gamble, perhaps- that now had him trapped in close quarters, powers gone and strength flagging with a slab of seastone pressed to his back... But- he wasn't done ‘till he was hung, or so the saying went. He looked over his shoulder, grin firmly in place. "I never knew you were into this- na, Taisa, if you wanted another go, you just had to ask..."
"Eyes forward!" the marine barked, interrupting him.
His shoulders slumped, pout evident in his voice even as he complied. "… You’re no fun."
There was a pregnant pause, before the other man rose to that bait.
"You aren't taking this seriously, are you?"
The pirate simply shrugged.
"I /can/ take you" he growled, pressing the jitte hard in the small of his back, following him down- holding several long moments before it was suddenly gone. Ace heard a palm slapping the desk and the door slamming closed before he managed the strength to move. They were the last sounds Smoker made before leaving him alone, his winnings on the table.
Though, he wasn’t certain he’d won…
~~
My apologies- first attempt at those two - and it shows. *laughs* Oh well, I tried.

Date: 2004-12-31 11:30 pm (UTC)I loved it SO SO much. Do you still have the non-hacked version? If so, could I see? There is NOT enough fanfiction with these two, and yet, it's so there.
