Stand By Me

Carrot hugged his knees to his chest and huffed blowing some of the purple hair from his face showing his eyes a little. It had been ages since their captain had left to go and be a real pirate. The boy sighed, he really missed the older boy and everything they had done.

Him being an only child always respected the captain and looked up to him as an older brother, and now he was gone. Pepper walked up the hill and saw his friend; no doubt they had the same thing on their mind. The black haired boy sat down next to Carrot.

“Miss him too huh?” he got a nod in response.

Pepper sighed and slung an arm over his friend’s shoulders and tried to keep a brave face, he was their leader now since Usopp had left, being the oldest by a month. “Come on cheer up! Would captain want us to be this way?”

“I guess not… but I really miss him” Carrot sighed and leaned closer to his best friend feeling a warmth and comfort he missed.

“We all do” Pepper replied and leaned closer to his friend.

“But, you have me at least!” He beamed and nuzzled the other who grinned and nodded his head. Pepper moved his hand and held the other boy’s happy when Carrot held it back and gave a gentle squeeze.

The two sat side by side cuddled against each other and just watching the ocean, waiting for their captain return. They didn’t know how long it would take, but they’d wait for him together.
