Old challenge fic
Apr. 9th, 2005 06:02 pmTitle: Bella Notte
Challenge: Food
Rating: PG-13 (for Zoro's language)
Pairing: Very faint Zoro/Luffy
Word count: 300
Haven't done any of the challenges lately, as all my attempts kept dying on me halfway through. So here's a late one I finally managed to finish. Romantic dinners and Luffy... not something that really works.
If the bastard with a fiddle came one step closer to their table, Zoro swore he was going to decapitate him. Even if it meant losing most of his meal to Luffy. And his Captain had better get that considering look out of his eye whenever he looked at the fiddler too. He knew Luffy was a bit obsessive about acquiring a musician for the crew, but surely they could do better than this catgut-tormenter.
It was dinnertime in Bella Notte, and the stupid cook had wandered off in search of 'le grande romance', 'la belle amour' and other undoubtedly useless items of a food-producing nature. Leaving his crew to starve. Or team up to purchase a meal which, if you were teamed with Luffy, was more or less the same thing. The pair of them had miraculously managed to find enough cash for a meal, and a small restaurant with big servings. They'd ordered the cheapest item on the menu - spaghetti bolognaise, and Zoro was currently doing his best to ensure that he actually got to eat some of it, and that Luffy didn't steal anyone else's food. This required more eyes than he actually had, and he almost wished that Robin was around to help.
Zoro quickly claimed the last meatball and paused, mouth open and meatball half inside his mouth, as Luffy turned his biggest, poutiest expression on him. Reminding himself firmly that Luffy had already eaten most of the meal, Zoro continued to chomp down... and then Luffy's tongue stretched across the table and swiped it literally out of his mouth.
"Eugh! Ptui! What are you, some kind of frog?" Zoro looked disgusted.
Luffy grinned at him.
The fiddler had to REALLY belt out the chorus to drown out the sound of the ensuing fight.
