Hidden In Us All

Pepper walked down the path glancing up at Usopp’s house, it was fairly late and a window was slightly ajar leaking light. He sighed and shook his head. They had all agreed to keep their captain’s house clean and neat for when he returned but Carrot always spent a lot of time there.

The young boy rubbed his neck and opened the front door, which they had to fix at one point, and walk up the stairs. He looked around and heard the scratching of pencils along paper. Pushing Usopp’s door open he saw the purple haired boy hunched over the desk tapping his chin with the eraser end.

“Carrot?” Pepper asked walking up behind him carefully wrapping his arms around the others neck and nuzzling.

“Hmm? Oh.. I didn’t know it was this late..sorry..” he chuckled sheepishly as Pepper gave him a peck on the cheek and came around to his side.

“So what are you doi-“ he stopped mid sentence when he looked at the sheet of paper in front of him.

“That’s amazing!”

Pepper picked the cream coloured paper up and examined the image. It was a detailed drawing of the town. He even recognised the houses in some cases. He was stunned.. He looked down at the table and soon noticed all the coloured pencils and chalks along with other items.

“Where did you learn to do this?”

“I learned from Captain. I loved watching him draw he even taught me something’s when it was just the two of us. As soon as he left..I..I carried on. I want to make him proud of me even if he’s not here…”

“Even if captains not proud of you, I am..” Pepper turned and kissed Carrot softly smiling when the other kissed back.
