I blame my darling Lee Onami for this
In retrospect Usopp probably should have been paying closer attention to what was going on behind him as he sat at the table hunched over another one of his inventions. But Luffy had found someone else to bother and that seemed like a good thing at the time so he just zoomed out whatever conversation his captain and the cook were having.
“Sanji I’m bored.”
“If you’d stop hanging off me I could have dinner done sooner and then you’d have something to do.” Smack “And keep yer hands off the butter rolls!”
“Awww...” Luffy pouted and untangled himself from the blond. “I really wish we had a musician, then I’d have something to do.”
Sanji sighed, his captain could be so random sometimes. “You’ve said that a hundred times Luffy.”
“But every pirate crew needs someone who can play an instrument!”
The cook turned away from his stir fry for a moment to look at his captain thoughtfully, a mischievous smirk crossing his features. “You may have a point there...” He grabbed Luffy’s shirt, pulling the boy closer to whisper something into his ear.
“Really?” A huge grin spread across Luffy’s face.
“Oh yeah, he’s great at it. An expert.”
Five seconds later Usopp found a very excited rubber boy clinging to his back. “What is it Luffy?”
“Sanji says you can play the skin flute!”
“I...WHAT?”
“I wanna see! He said I have to take my pants off first though.”
“SANJI!”
Sanji just grinned. “Well you are a master of the instrument Usopp.”
