You know what might be the best part of the One Piece fandom? No matter who you pair with who it will always produce a quirky, interesting, and really enjoyable pairing.
"Whooaah! Cool!"
"Yeah, that's exactly what the Great Knight--"
"No, not that." Luffy interrupted. He pointed intently at Usopp's upper arm. "That."
"Huh?" Usopp blinked down at the length of scar tissue trailing along his underarm. "Oh."
"I knew Nami and Zoro had cool scars. Why didn't you tell me you had one too?" Luffy asked curiously.
"Eh, well, I also never told you about my Grand Adventure on the Island of Flesh Eating Bird-people." Usopp spread his arms wide.
"But I don't want to hear about that."
"You don't want to hear about the most fantastic voyage any man has ever to have sailed?"
"It's just a lie, right?" Luffy asked bluntly. Usopp's stature sagged.
"I guess, I could tell you. . ." The marksman relented, clutching his arm self-consciously. "It looks pretty bad, huh?"
"Yeah! It's all puckered and stuff!" Luffy cheered. "Zoro's big one isn't even like that!"
Usopp seemed to withdraw slightly.
"We've got the coolest marksman ever!" Luffy concluded, with a wide grin.
"Huh?!"
"Yeah." He nodded, brightly. "Pirates have to have scars! The best pirates have lots of 'em. With a scar like that, there's no doubt that I found a great marksman."
"Well then. . ." Usopp puffed out his chest. "I supposes it's only fair I tell you the story of the great Captain Usopp's mighty battle scar."
"Yeah!"

Date: 2005-07-02 04:52 am (UTC)(Unlike Sanji there is no room in Zoro's heart for romantic trysts with women, beautiful or not. He works-out on deck for the benefit of only one other: Seagull.
Seagull: Kyaaa!

Date: 2005-07-02 06:55 am (UTC)I'll see what I can do about a sequel. Maybe one of the future topics will be ultra-inspirational (and extra-absorbent). I don't know why no one believes the story about the sacred ruby of Satsuma Island, though.

Date: 2005-07-02 04:09 pm (UTC)A scars topic would be marvelous, huh? Of course, then I would have to write the backstory. . . (Just as soon as I think of it, you guys will be the first to know. ^__^)

Date: 2005-07-02 05:17 pm (UTC)Actually, all of them SHOULD have scars in all sorts of places. It's interesting that in most tv shows and movies, the only wounds that leave scars are the Significant, Important ones... ^_^
And, I agree, scars should be a topic soon! And here I thought I was the only one who has a... er... "thing" for them... ^_^

Date: 2005-07-02 05:34 pm (UTC)And it's true about all of them having scars in theory. I wanted to say that Sanji had one. You know, one you can't see when he's wearing pants. ^____^

Date: 2005-07-02 06:21 pm (UTC)Ok. ^_^
I figured her tattoo might not cover the entire scar, and even if it did the skin would still probably be uneven. I've got a scar or two and those never seem to quite match up with the regular skin. (Even the really old ones, surprisingly.)
Yeah, scars tend to be a slightly lighter color. At least mine do...
And, yeah, I have some that I've had since before I can remember (so, like 30 years ago), and I can still see them.

So, on his ankle?

Date: 2009-09-26 07:14 am (UTC)Also? I like how the hurt/comfort was more that Luffy was (in his own way) comforting Usopp about his scar. Not the typical response to h/c, and I thought that was a novel approach.
Also also, I love Luffy/Usopp like burning.
