Zoro stared into the waning fire. He heard a whimper, and turned to Sanji, who was curled up in a ball next to him. He pulled the boy's blanket up around his neck, then went back to his musings.

"I am the man who will be Pirate King." Zoro had heard the boy say it over and over. But never had he realized what Luffy would do to achieve that end... it was horrifying to remember what the boy did; what he had sacrificed.

"Zoro?" The swordsman turned to look at his new companion. Her tiny wings fluttered as she flew closer, her orange glow lighting up his face. "It's getting light," Nami said. "We should get going." She moved closer to Sanji. Zoro grabbed her in his hand.

"Let him sleep a bit longer."

"But Zoro," the elf replied, "we need to--"

"Leave him be," Zoro snapped back, throwing her across the room. She recovered before her little body could hit the opposite well. "Jerk," she muttered.

"We'll start out soon enough," Zoro finally replied, "It's not every night he gets to sleep this well."

Nami sat down near the swordsman. "Luffy guy is really evil, huh?"

"Yeah.

"He didn't used to be. We were once the best of friends."

"What happened?"

"He became Pirate King."

Umm... it's in the 14 or 15th manga I think. A bunch of Puck's people (for reasons I don't know because I didn't have translations) show up in a town and start zooming around at such high speeds that they punch holes right through people. It's truly disgusting. ^__^

Nicely written- I just wish I had seen Berzerk to understand the relation, but I think I can probably find it for that reason... ^_^

Ok, but be warned, it's really... icky. Lots of fighting and blood and attempted rape and... yeah.
Interestingly enough, Berserk was the anime I was into right before I got into One Piece. ^_^
