I write, because I don't want to clean...
Jul. 23rd, 2005 02:13 pmThis would have liked to be a little longer, but again, I ran out of words. Oh well.
Title: Demon’s angel
Rating: G
Pairing: Intended as faint LuZo, though the perspective may make you wonder…
Word Count: 300
“Zoro”
Words whispered in his ear, a name on the breeze, easily missed, easily doubted, “you’re not quitting, are you? You made a promise…”
His breath hitched, and he struggled to get up, eyes coming halfway open, but glazed. Kuina hovered by his shoulder, youth pristine and unchanging, even if her features were washed in a pale white luminescence, just a shade of who she had been.
She worried, watching him fade- blood rolling down his sides, soaking his clothing. In the past it would only take a few well-placed words- encouragement or taunts, depending on the circumstances- but that had been when he was alone, before he left, before that distraction- that other voice that drowned hers out. Then she had been his only goal, to surpass her at first, to become great for her, next. Now his mind was occupied by other things, other passions, and he didn’t hear her so well anymore.
“Zoro,” and a note of urgency entered her ‘voice’, “get up- you have to get up now…”
But she couldn’t reach him anymore- he didn’t even stir, chin resting on his chest, breath but a faint whisper in the air; and she feared the coming time when she could reach him all too well.
“Zoro!” The swordsman flinched at that, and the specter turned, both pleased and troubled to see the boy who had stolen her place in his mind. She was surprised to see concern flash in his eyes, before turning stern. “Zoro! Get up right now!”
At those words, Zoro forced himself up, eyes focusing once more, settling upon his captain.
That he had this power over her little Zoro- it seemed she had truly lost her place here…
“You have to become the greatest swordsman in the world, remember?”
…or maybe not.
