The last thing they'd expect from their enemies was chemical warfare- though, after Don Kreig, it shouldn't have been. Nonetheless, whatever had been fired into their midst had knocked out almost everyone.
Usopp had managed, barely, to cling to consciousness- mustering all the strength he could, in his weakened state. He stood with some effort, barring the way to his companions; bloody, and tired, but resolute.
"You're not touching them...", and he swayed a little. The other pirates smirked, laughing nastily, and stalked foreword once more, but frightened, boastful Usopp pulled himself up to his full height- somehow seeming larger, than he really was- and while they could not /see/ the ethereal wings that trailed out behind him, they could feel the change in his power - a foreboding pressure.
"You. Will. Not. Touch. Them."
The words did not seem to come from his mouth, though his lips moved- but seemed to arrive directly in their minds. The directive, was overwhelming, and those that were left standing, could no more move forward than sprout wings and fly.
"Leave now." The voice again, compelling, and within moments the deck was clear.
Threat gone, the aura of power left him, and he slid tiredly to his knees, spent. After a few minutes of silence, there was a soft snort behind him. He turned to see Zoro, watching him through heavily lidded eyes.
"Who knew..."
Sanji wondered later, why Zoro would smirk whenever he would get close to Usopp- only once catching a portion of their conversation; though it made no sense to him.
"Fallen', eh?"
"Something like that..."
He had only been supposed to watch, not help- certainly not pirates. He wouldn't be allowed to go back for a long, long time- but that was ok. He liked where he was now.
