Theme: First Kisses
It was a glorious sunny day, and his crew was assembled. Swordsman, Sniper and Navigator. They were ready to go to the Grand Line!
Still ... he'd have liked a Musician. Maybe they'll find one in the Grand Line. It was a bit empty with only four. Jumping on to his newest nakama's back, Luffy wrapped his arms and legs firmly around the graceful long neck and popped his head about to stare eye to eye, grinning tremendously.
"We're going to be the best crew EVER because I'm going to be the Pirate King!"
Then he dropped a slobbery wet doggy kiss, full of enthusiasm, right on the mouth.
"And you're going to be my SPECIAL seat!"
*** *** ***
It was a dark stormy night, and he was his only crew.
Still ... he wasn't exactly alone. Not after what he saw that night in the forest in the sky. And even if it was only a hallucination, he wouldn't have chosen differently.
"Kaya ... Kaya gave you to us - to me -"
No, that was a lie. He wouldn't have fought so hard for a mere THING, no matter how meaningful the gift was, even if it was Kaya's. He couldn't choose one nakama over another -
"But no one else KNEW!"
Deck, Lounge, Storage Rooms, Bathroom, Crew's Quarters. All achingly empty.
"I won't leave you. I swear I won't. I'll raise the money somehow, and they'll HAVE to mend you ... I won't let them take you apart ..."
It was the emptiness of the bow figurehead which finally broke him. Gripping the ram horns with the same fierceness, the Great Captain Usopp wept and gibbered promises that he knew he couldn't keep.
