Rating: G
Pairing: Shanks/Ben
Word Count: 300
The night was one of those occasions when Shanks plumbed the depths of his cups and resurfaced laughing, giddy, and completely in love with the entire world. Not that any of his crew would begrudge him his happiness on that particular evening. The new ship had performed admirably against a small pirate fleet, and now they were flush with cash, excitement, and the hint of a brand new adventure.
Shanks, when he was in that mood, liked to share it, and it had somehow gotten lodged in his somewhat pickled brain that showering his men with affection was a good way to go about doing so. They were all used to it; the way the captain would run around hugging people at random or planting wet, beery kisses on a cheek or forehead. Ben wasn’t terribly fond of drunken regard and had thus far successfully evaded Shanks’ attempts.
That night, though, perhaps he’d been a little too intoxicated himself or maybe Shanks had just gotten sneakier, because he found himself captured. Shanks was a solid weight on his lap, hands firmly planted on either side of his head so he couldn’t turn away. He’d braced himself for slobber or foul breath or something other than a warm mouth unerringly finding his own. Shanks wasn’t supposed to actually kiss him. But somehow he was, and despite the overwhelming taste of alcohol, it really wasn’t so bad. He’d thrown him on the floor moments later, mainly because of principle, and decided that it was time for someone other than him to put the now passed out captain to bed and they’d both forget all about it.
The next morning, nursing his hangover, Shanks managed a grin and a wink, and Ben began to wonder just how drunk Shanks had actually been.

Pairing: Mihawk/Zoro
Word Count: 97
Note: Alternative interpretation of the topic
The first time they’d kissed for real, he’d been defeated. Broken actually, sheared apart except for the strength of a promise. The second time he’d been willing, passive, torn nearly in two by the force of it all. Golden eyes had stared into his own green, taunting, daring, and finally with a hint of respect. The third time, when it finally comes, will be different. He won’t yield again. He has new strength, new partners, and a will grown even more implacable. That kiss will be long and fierce and painful and ultimately one he will win.

Shanks/Ben tend to fly over my head, since nearly all characterization of Ben is fanon (we just don't see that much of him! XD;;;). I do so love Shanks' slyness in teasing/using his 'drunk' state, though. What a rogue.
slightly irrelevant/free association thoughts - since Shanks thought Luffy was rather like HIM when young, and Smoker could see resemblance of Luffy vs. Gold Roger ... it seems to me that while the youthful energy/vitality has gone up each generation, actual versatility and knowledge seem to have gone down in pirates. I base this statement mostly because Gold Roger knew how to decipher (and even write!) the tablet language, and Shanks being a swordsman rival to Mihawk before losing his arm. Compared to Shanks & Roger, Luffy seems much more limited .... but makes up for it by attracting skilled and loyal nakama to his crew.
Deuce:
HAWT. Very hawt. I have a soft spot for uke!Zoro in all its forms, and I really like Mihawk/Zoro as a pairing. Under a hundred words, and you can feel that ... subtle/tension of the foreplay like quality between them.
Mwrraarrr. *purrs*

Date: 2005-08-10 12:06 am (UTC)I adore the second one, and its not just because I have a giant Mihawk/Zoro boner that is begging to be stroked. The twist on theme was very clever.
As always, both pieces are written exceptionally well.

And the world needs more Mihawk/Zoro!
