Give me a fluffy topic and I come up with angst. An angst/serious one, and I come up with fluff. My brain is cross wired.

Topic: Villainy

It was quiet and dark and with the warm body curled against his side and on his lap, Usopp didn't want to move. Unfortuneately, his captain wasn't as limp as he seemed.

"Usopp, what's a villainy?" Luffy's vocabulary wasn't big, but the lack of an occasional word still surprised the sharpshooter.

"Villainy is ... it's something villains DO!" That was the quickest answer he could think of, mind blanking. Damn the captain for asking the darnest questions during the post-coital cuddle.

"Oh. Okay. So what's a villain, then?"

"A villain is ... a despicable bastard! Who kills people!" What pirate didn't know the word? Granted, most stories portrayed PIRATES as the villains ... dammit, he was too muzzy to think. "Like Kuro or Crocodile!"

"Hn. So what they did was villainy, then, taking over a country, and trying to steal Kaya's money ..."

"Exactly right!" Usopp nodded, fighting drowsiness and the urge to sneeze. In the dark, a chin rested on his chest, hair tickling under Usopp's nose. Slowing, the steady breaths lulled Usopp.

"Zoro kills people. Does that make Zoro a villain?"

I think the drabble is good up until just before the last line. Luffy's first two questions can be seen as in-character (subjective, I know), and Usopp's responses are very believable (very good writing, by the way).

But that last line just doesn't seem to fit with Luffy. Or rather, the drabble ends much too early. By the way the drabble flows, the last line seems to be uttered with some sort of sadness.

But this is Luffy we're talking about here. I can imagine him asking the final question the same way he asked the first two questions, and when Usopp attempts to set things straight, Luffy would make some logically baffling statement that would make everything all right.

As it is now, the drabble just doesn't end well, mostly due to the kind of character Luffy is.

That's just my opinion, though.
