He'd forgotten how nice it was to have regular weather. Early fall, crisp but not too cold, the leaves changing color... soon winter, then the damp spring, and then the summers he remembered from childhood. Running around shrieking like an idiot at the littlest thing, falling down laughing on the grass and staring up at the clouds, imagining they were ships to carry him on the wide blue sea above...
"Heeeeey. What are you looking at?" Luffy nudged Usopp out of the windowsill to twist his head up towards the sky, following Usopp's gaze. "You've been staring at it for hours!"
"More like five minutes. Look at that cloud! Looks like a boat." Usopp pointed around Luffy's head.
"... looks more like a duck!" Luffy disagreed, tilting his head further at unlikely angles. "Duck-cloud!"
"No, boat-cloud!"
"Duck-boat cloud!"
"If it's a duck, where's the bill?!"
Before Luffy could answer, one of the village boys ran up to Usopp's small house, shouting.
"Pirates! Pirates are coming!"
"Wanna go?" Luffy grinned at Usopp, who crossed his arms.
"Hah! The mighty Captain Usopp can handle this!"
Luffy shrugged and looked back up at the clouds. "Okay."
"But..." Usopp added shyly, "I guess you can come along if you want to."
