Rating: PG for Sanji-talk
Pairing: Sanji X Zeff
Word Count: 254
Topic: Pie
The first fifty seven times Sanji had tried to make pie, he'd gotten a kick for his efforts and wound up having to eat them all by himself, for food was not to be wasted on Baratie. Soggy bottomed crusts, over-sweetened filling, fruit melted to mush, fruit unevenly baked, burned crusts, under-sweetened filling... He ate it all without being told, head and body aching from the punishing impact, cursing under his breath between bites that one of these days, he'd get it right and show that shitty old man.
The old man was spending the evening lounging his room. He was reading that crappy torn-edged old log book and propping the pegleg up on his bed when Sanji barged in without bothering to knock. Zeff raised an eyebrow dubiously at the plate held in the blonde's awkward teenage hands, and the slice of chocolate pie with graham crust and burnt whipped meringue topping. But before kicking the little eggplant out or yelling at him for wasting food by making it into garbage, the older chef took a test bite.
His mustache moved peculiarly as he chewed, circular motions almost like rowing oars. Sanji watched with pursed lips just waiting to break into a scowl, his curly raised eyebrow the only sign of hopeful anticipation. Finally Zeff put the fork back on the plate and leaned back in his chair again, closing his eyes.
"Not bad, shitty little eggplant."
Sanji broke out his best scowl. "Happy Valentine's Day, shitty old man."

Date: 2005-11-03 06:32 am (UTC)Ya know, having to eat all your own cooking mistakes WOULD make for a good incentive to learn to cook well very quickly. ^_^

I like cooking on the side myself, so that's just the only thing I'm iffy about, otherwise - very IC on how it would've been. XDD <3
