Screw it, I'll post
Nov. 3rd, 2005 11:36 pmHullo. I am a drabble virgin. I wrote this last week (i.e. before I knew this week's topic). It could possibly be gay if you squinted really really hard, so I'm not sure it can count as a submission. I'm really posting it more to just post it somewhere and break my shyness, and because this week's topic is just so convenient. So that I could post more later. Something that, you know... is actually gay.
I decided I should maybe try drabbles because I'm told it's good for improving writing skills. Since I mostly draw, my writing skills could use a lot of improvement.
I love Pell. He's one of my favourite characters. This spilled out one evening. It's very, very short, but I wanted to keep it really simple. It's so vague that I don't think I could even call it very spoiler-ish. So... here goes. Comments are, of course, extremely welcome.
Title: Last Sky
Rating: G
Word Count: 79. Count 'em
Pairing: Pell/Chaka, if you squint a LOT.
Topic: Zoan-types
The sky was blue and dry, shot through with sunlight and the beat of his wings. He loved the sky, never tired of it, never tired of watching it bloom under and above him, up and forward into forever.
He closed his eyes.
Vivi. Cobra. Chaka. Arabasta. Hope. Rain.
He closed his eyes to the sky and savored those faces, his heartbeat, the last cool rush of air on his face before heat blossomed under him like a flower.

Date: 2005-11-04 06:06 pm (UTC)Yeah, I was freaking out at the time too. I had for some reason taken a very intense liking to Pell, to the point that despite having some utterly insignificant percentage of screentime/page space compared to, say, Zoro, whom I adore, he still managed to be one of my absolute favourite characters.
I imagined that those last moments in the sky for him, despite all the strain and agony and general shit going on all around, would have been internally peaceful for him. He seems to be the kind of guy who wouldn't mind so much. So I was trying to get a cross a bit of that serenity, I guess.
Anyway, thank you again! I'll try and write something with a little more substance (and a lot more yaoi) next time =)

Date: 2005-11-04 06:10 pm (UTC)That scene, in both manga and anime, was incredible. I wasn't crying, but it's one of the times the series has brought me close to it. Pell is awesome. And you are also awesome for reading and replying. Thank you again!
