Notes: This is for Brian. Because way, way back at Acen, he said something that can basically be summed up as 'How do Mr. 5 and Miss Valentine have sex without her dying?'. So, here you have it.
She had slid the ring into place using nothing but her mouth, giggling the whole while, before sitting back to admire her work, asking how it fit.
She knew as well as he did how it made him feel powerless, vulnerable, so that wasn’t what she was asking. So he said it was tight, maybe she should get a bigger size. And as soon as the words were out, he wanted to kick himself.
Her face fell. Nobody else would have noticed. She asked if he wanted to wait, give her time to get another.
He shook his head as he answered. No, not at all. They wouldn’t want it to fall off in the middle of something important because it was too big.
She giggled at that. She giggled at everything. He loved to hear her laugh. “So, tonight then?”
“Yeah.” He knew she’d hear it as finally.
Her hat flew past his head, knocking something off the table behind him. He shrugged his coat off and let it slide to the floor, then moved to help her with her zipper.
