Characters: Smoker x Luffy
Word Count: 180
Rating: G
Topic: First Times
Don't know if it's the topic or the fact I've been rewatching the series but I seem to be on a One Piece drabble writing spree.
He’d never let a pirate go the moment he set his eyes on them. A few lucky ones may have escaped from time to time, but even those were eventually caught by him. He prided himself in that fact for so long, which is why he still couldn’t get over the fact he had actually let Luffy go when he had the chance to apprehend the foolish young pirate.
Yet every time he looked back on the incident he felt little regret for his actions. He reasoned it was because in the end he’d still eventually catch the straw hat pirate, and not the fact that those silly words actually struck a chord in him. Or that there was a secret part of him that wanted to respond to him in kind.
He pushed those dangerous thoughts aside and dedicated himself to the renewed search for Monkey D. Luffy and his crew. Though the truth remained a constant murmur in the back of his mind, that if he always remained chasing Luffy he’d never have to admit he finally failed.
