It was scary. The first time he’d ever been away from the little island where he was born. But there were a lot scarier first times to come...and some that weren’t so scary at all.
The first time Zoro had pushed his pride away long enough for him to treat his wounds.
The first time Zoro had carried him to shore on his shoulders so the ocean wouldn’t get him.
The first time Zoro let him sleep in his hammock because he’d had a nightmare.
The first time Zoro found that sensitive little spot behind his ear that made him sigh when Zoro scratched it.
The first time Zoro had put on that horrible green scarf he’d somehow managed to knit for his birthday.
The first time Zoro let sleep in his hammock even though he hadn’t had a nightmare.
The first time he heard Zoro moan when his worked that tight knot out of his shoulders.
The first time he tasted hard liquor and Zoro had held him in his lap while his head was swimming.
The first time he realized what a crush really was....
It was scary.
But it wasn’t the first time he wouldn't let himself be stopped from doing something...just because it was scary.
