Pairing: ZoLu
Topic: ice
It's the middle of the figure skating season, and it seems to be all Oxygen and ESPN2 ever show these days.
The crew of the Going Merry had (much to Chopper's minimally suppressed glee) come across another winter island in the Grand Line, and a trip to its frozen lake had been in order.
It seemed that Luffy, who never took long to master anything, had become aces at skating, and shown off as such by falling onto his edges, zipping around the ice at an unbelievable speed and completing acrobatic leaps that seemed impossible for anyone but him. Usopp and Chopper weren't too far behind, laughing at his tricks. Nami, Sanji and even Robin had taken to the ice as well, albeit at a slower pace, cheeks red with the cold and their breath coming out in puffs, where it mingled with the wisps of smoke coming from Sanji's cigarette.
And to think -- the last time they skated together, the unity of their crew had been at stake.
Zoro was the only one that had chosen to remain behind on the bank -- aloof, eyes trained on the horizon, on watch. Well, that and he hadn't the foggiest clue how to skate. It wasn't until a wind-blown Luffy had glided up to him with open, earnest eyes, a wide smile and a proffered hand, that Zoro's face broke into a smile of his own, grasping the hand and letting himself be led unsteadily onto the ice.
So it wasn't always "the captain's orders" that made Zoro do things he normally wouldn't do. It was kind of sweet, actually.
Zoro. Sweet. Riiight.
But then again, between an old man and his goats, lonely whales, record-breaking stilt-walkers and self-proclaimed deities with megalomania, stranger things have happened.

Title: Bad Form
Rating: PG
Word Count: 200
Pairing: Jango/Fullbody
Topic: ice
Warning: crack, ooc (sorry)
It didn't take long -- perhaps the time it took for half the damn thing to melt, by his estimation -- before he had Jango's complete and undivided attention.
Fullbody touched the ice cube over his lips again (in what he hoped was) sexily, his tongue darting out to catch the melting droplets of water. He licked his lips and then smirked as he saw Jango, transfixed, do the same.
Giving the ice cube in his hand one last, lascivious swipe with his tongue, Fullbody leaned forward, moving to touch the cube onto Jango's slightly parted lips, inviting him to taste ...
The acrid scent of cigarette smoke broke the trance, as Fullbody and Jango both looked up to see a tall, shapely figure standing between them. Her otherwise stoic expression was marred by the slight twitching of one shapely eyebrow and the slow gnashing of her teeth around one poor, slowly-being-mangled cigarette.
Eventually Hina's imposing form, after a brief pause, silently withdrew, but Fullbody could've sworn that he heard mutterings along the lines of, "Disgusting. Hina disgusted. Hina retching," as she walked away.
In retrospect, it was probably bad form to flirt in the middle of the marine mess hall.

Title: Aspiration
Rating: PG
Word Count: 239
Pairing: Johnny/Yosaku
Topic: ice
Warning: first time writing J/Y, brother -- beware ooc
"I'm sorry, man," Yosaku said defeatedly as Johnny pressed the ice pack gingerly onto the other man's swollen temple, "it was my fault the bounty got away."
"Naw, it's nothin'," the other man replied, "he might've been out of our league."
"Try telling that to the kids after their homes have been razed to the ground, right?" Yosaku asked grimly. "I got into the business because I wanted an easy meal ticket, but you, you aspired to be somebody. So, I'm sorry I let you down, brother."
"But I guess the truth is, I have aspirations too," Yosaku went on, mumbling, "and for them, I can't die just yet."
Johnny smirked. "So what's your aspiration then, man?"
Yosaku said nothing. He gestured vaguely instead with his hands, which caught Johnny's jacket sleeve, making him lose his grip on the ice pack and toppling its contents. They both bent to retrieve the pack and fallen cubes of ice at, unfortunately, the same time, sharply knocking heads. To Yosaku's already abused skull, the impact made him feel faint, and he felt himself pitching forward -- and Johnny found himself with a large armful of Yosaku.
They separated quickly, muttering quick apologies and Johnny was quick to leave the rather embarrassing contact behind. "So, ah," Johnny coughed, "you were telling me about your aspirations, man."
Yosaku feigned confusion. "My what?"
"Your aspirations?"
"What," Yosaku deadpanned.
"What?"
"What what?"
"Nevermind."
