Wheel-a-Spinning
Jan. 24th, 2006 01:27 amI got this idea late at night and had to write it down. And then the torture of hacking it down to 300 words had to be done. My head hurts...
Title: Wheel-a-Spinning
Rating: G (even I can't rate it higher)
Pairing: Various and/or None
Word Count: 300
Topic: Circles

First to take note of the phenomenon was Usopp. Vivi was second. Chopper partially noticed. Robin, of course, figured out everything.
The most obvious part is Sanji's blatant worship of Nami. No matter how cruel or indifferent her responses, he keeps right on showering her with affection.
Much less obvious is Nami's interest in Zoro. Zoro is the only one who she keeps insisting owes her lots of money. It's as if she wants to have him chained to her for life.
It's a mystery to most of the crew why Zoro, former Pirate Hunter and future Greatest Swordsman, started following someone like Luffy. At least the 'why's of the others are mostly known by at least another crewmember other than Luffy. Zoro never bothers to explain.
Luffy is quite attached to Sanji. He willingly flings and wraps himself around the cook, nagging him for more food. Food may be the main reason, but there seems to be a hint of something more in Luffy's gaze whenever he looks at Sanji.
And so the wheel spins, no one quite getting what they want. But sometimes the wheel spins so fast it seems to go backwards.
Although Sanji shouts and kicks at Luffy, occasionally he lets the captain hang on for a moment, sighs, and then asks in a warm tone of voice for specific menu items.
During dramatic moments, Luffy reaffirms his promise with Zoro to stay together until they became the Pirate King and the Greatest Swordsman, respectively.
Zoro goes out of his way to protect Nami from danger. Even as he curses her evil ways, he blocks and slices any attacks that dare harm her.
Though she needn't do so, Nami occasionally treats Sanji kindly and even rewards him with an honest 'thank you'.
The wheel still spins.
*********************
Aaargh!! I know I mangled some of the characters, but I so wanted to use the wheel metaphor. And the ending...*headdesk*
Forgive me.
