A newbie's first post. Hi everyone, please give me your guidance. *bows*

Edited with advice from [livejournal.com profile] coil.

I overshot for a drabble. ^^; So I'm not sure if it counts if I specify only a part of it for the contest...?

A question: Is it necessary to place the writing behind an LJ cut on the community itself? Or is linking to the piece in one's own journal alright?

-----------------------------------------------------------------

"The assailant..." Usopp declared dramatically. "...is among us!"

Lightning flashed accordingly, and thunder rolled across the heavens, adding to the drama and tension in the atmosphere.

Chopper stared up at Usopp in wide-eyed awe, pausing his treatment of the fallen body.

Zoro looked grim as he sat leaning against the mast.

Robin watched with her slight, mysterious smile, seeming to know something no one else did. (As usual.)

Sanji removed the cigarette from his lips, exhaling a languid stream of smoke.

Nami calmly sat in her chair, looking around at her nakama with evaluative eyes.

"YEA!" Luffy agreed with much gusto, taking a break from poking the unmoving body of his brother. He received a knock on his head from the ship's navigator.

"I think that's a given, considering that we are on a ship in the middle of the sea," Nami pointed out.

Usopp, hand stretched out, one finger pointing skyward, deflated.

Sanji's eye kept darting to the galley where the dinner's dishes remained unwashed.

Zoro dug his ears, bored.

Chopper continued bandaging.

Luffy stared intensely at Chopper's busy hooves.

Nami suggested that they returned to whatever they were doing. She too was busy that night. It had been a good night to work on her maps, till this happened; "this" - Ace being found face-down on the deck, blood streaming down the side of his head.

Zoro moved off lethargically.

Robin and Sanji stood at the same time. The sound behind him made Sanji twist his head back briefly - meeting Robin's eyes - before turning back, heading towards the galley.

Luffy jumped to his feet and trailed after Sanji.

Chopper nodded, suggesting that Ace be moved in after he was done with the bandages.

Nami agreed, and then moved off.

Luffy was sent flying out of the galley.

Usopp lingered, watching Chopper at work for a while, before he too disappeared into the cabin.

Robin was already in their room when Nami entered.

Nami's eyes flicked to the dark-haired lady momentarily, before returning to the desk where she had set out her papers and ink.

"You know who the assailant is, don't you? Robin-nee," Nami spoke lightly as she settled at the desk.

"It's Cook-san," Robin responded without any hint of disturbance in her voice.

"Sanji-kun?!" Nami turned around in her chair to look at Robin, surprised.

She found Robin looking straight at her.

"It's elementary, Navigator-san. The crux of the matter lies with Cook-san's left eye."

"But Sanji does nothing with his left eye!" He could hardly use it with all the hair falling over it.

"Exactly. From the position of the body, we can imagine how Portgas-san was standing when he was hit. A person using both eyes wouldn't have struck at such a spot as for the point of injury that we observed."

Nami fell silent as she mulled over the logic of the statements. Robin turned back to selecting a book.

After a long moment, Nami asked, "But why?"

Robin's slight smile returned as she looked up from her book. "Navigator-san was in here all evening after dinner?"

Nami nodded, shrewdly questioning, "Did something happen on the deck?"

"Portgas-san was hitting on Swordsman-san."

"Aa." A similar knowing smile spread on Nami's lips as she turned back to her maps. "Those boys are always so immature."

suspense is so amazing

It necessary to place the writing behind an LJ cut on the community itself, since the LJ management changed the linking sys (i think)

*grins*

Ah. The linking system was changed? I didn't realise that. Thanks for responding. ^^ I was actually asking if there was anything in the rules of this community in particular that disallows linking out. But it's fine. I guess it's not really needed for a drabble comm.

Glad you like it. ^_^ (Haven't seen much of Robin lately in the anime,manga/fandom? (I'm still rather new to the fandom, so I'm not too sure of fandom trends.))

So much love for Robin for this line:

"It's Cook-san," Robin responded without any hint of disturbance in her voice.

Hehe. Yup, Robin's probably the only one who would say it like that ne. Thanks for commenting.

I like the suspense!!XD
And the way you described it, it's amusing.

So Sanji's blind in his other eye. I love the conversation between Robin and Nami.^__^ Nice work.

Thanks! ^_^

Well, not necessarily blind, might simply be his hair obstructing his view. But for the sake of the plot (that bit in the conversation was somewhat a parody of a part of a Sherlock Holmes story, Silver Blaze), he is unable to use The Eye anyway. :P

So Good!

I really liked this, for its dramatics (which made me laugh), mystery and suspense (*giggles shamelessly*) and because for once it was ZORO that Ace was hitting on. I don't mind reading about Ace hitting on Sanji, but I always wondered why it was never Zoro.

So this was a amazing! Thanks so much for writing it!
