Life's 404 Message
Feb. 10th, 2006 01:13 amI wish I had some kind of witty introduction to this story, but I don't. At this point, I'd be willing to settle for a witty title.
Title: SNAFU
Topic: Mistakes
Rating: PG-15 for implied sexual content
Pairing: SanZo
Word Count: 297
Disclaimer: So Not Mine.
This was a mistake.
Sanji was still and silent under Zoro’s heavy arm, his post-coital cigarette long since smoked while waiting for the swordsman’s post-coital nap to end. The night’s passion was over, and the heated drama that brought them to it was forgotten. Nothing remained of the angry words they threw at each other. No bruises marked where eager hands grabbed willing flesh. There were no obvious signs that it was not just another casual night when blood ran too hot and urges had to be sated.
We said it wouldn’t mean anything.
The chef sighed. It was supposed to have been simple: an agreement made based on mutual need and desire, with no attachments. Nothing should have changed between them. They could fight and swear and insult from sunup to sundown; that was the extent of any relationship they had. What they did in the anchor deck during the darkest hours of the night… that didn’t mean anything at all.
When the hell did it change?
He really should have known better. His own treacherous heart offered love freely far too often, opening countless opportunities to be crushed and reborn with each new infatuation. It was only a matter of time before meaning seeped into their utilitarian relationship. He started keeping track of the things he could do that made the swordsman gasp, and then he started keeping track of other things: what Zoro liked to eat, where he liked to sleep, how many times he smiled during the day…
I’m such an idiot.
And Zoro could never know about the soft devotion that started growing in his heart, because that would be the end of their arrangement, and Sanji was still hungry for all that the swordsman had to give.
This was a mistake.
