Topic: Pirates and Marines
Word Count: 300, and severely hacked; longer version here
Notes: (very) Vaguely related to First Time
When had his luck started turning on him? Around when he had met that damn pirate, as far as he could tell.
It wasn’t that he believed in luck, really, but if he did, he’d admit it’d been bad more often than not, lately. First, that pirate had gotten away. In an…. unorthodox way. Then, not only does he seem to run into said pirate more and more often, he has now run into said pirate’s brother; also a pirate, who also manages to get away from him. Though, admittedly, not in quite as interesting a manner.
He catches that thought, then, and changes ‘interesting’ to ‘uncommon’; he doesn’t want ‘kissing pirates’ labeled as interesting.
Now, huddled cold and wet on the deck of a pirate ship, he reflects on the most recent incident. The ships were blatantly harboring in front of a marine presence; it couldn’t be overlooked. Of course, the report missed a few glaring details.
The first was topography- which he cursed heartily in the short span between the ship and the water; the second was that somewhere on the island was the crew of one Red-Haired Shanks.
“Feeling any better?” The voice was steady but concerned. He leveled a tempered glare at it; he couldn’t be entirely rude, but it galled him to be saved by pirates twice, now.
“I’ll take that as a ‘yes’.” The smile was relaxed, but the eyes calculating. “We aren’t exactly going your way, but we can drop you off somewhere, soon.” There was a pause, then, “You want to know why, I’m guessing?”
He managed to suppress an eye twitch, and nodded tightly.
“I hear you’ve had a run in with Luffy… tell me about it.” The smile widened in earnest, but all he could think was, ‘not another one…’

I’m trying to write Chopper right now- so of course Smoker wants to pop out- it makes perfect sense! (What is wrong with me, anyway? No, never mind- don’t answer that… ^_~)
