Awfully quiet here lately. Eh. Got mugged by another plotbunny, so I'm gonna toss this out to the community before I limp back into lurkdom, where there are fewer bunnymuggers. I'm off topic by about three or four weeks... eh.

Title: SOS
Series: Sequel to SNAFU and SNAFU - Zoro Variation.

Word Count: 297 (again)
Rating: PG
Topic: Somewhat along the "Mistakes" theme
Disclaimer: One Piece is far too good to be anything I made.

A thin layer of ice settled over the Going Merry. Invisible, it filled the ship with an unnatural chill. Silent, it oppressed even the liveliness of the captain. Penetrating, it was sharpest in the space that separated Sanji and Zoro.

They “broke up” over a week ago. It was a poor choice of words, since “breaking up” implied that there was some kind of relationship between them to end, and they were both adamant that what passed between them was nothing but convenience. Each had his reasons for ending the arrangement, and neither offered to share. Since then, however, there was an insurmountable gap between the swordsman and the chef, and it was filled with icy, unspoken words.

They kept their distance each other when they could. Fighting was strained and awkward. At some point their insults for each other had become terms bordering on endearment, and it wasn’t the same to call someone “marimo” or “dartboard eyebrow” and not have him try to swallow the words right out of your mouth.

Each seemed determined to show the other that their non-relationship wasn’t going to change the status quo. Their half-hearted attempts to provoke each other resulted in the would-be provoker being stared down by the would-be provoked as often as a thrown kick or drawn sword. Sanji deliberately cooked the steak medium-well when he knew that Zoro liked it rare. Zoro took his naps directly in the middle of the path Sanji took to bring treats to the girls.

The rest of the Straw Hats watched their painfully choreographed dance, the glacial space between them that only grew bigger in their determination out-apathy each other, and saw that Sanji and Zoro were treading on very thin ice. The question was when and where would it break?

*boots them both* Dumbasses. What utter men.

Nicely done but OH I WANT TO KICK THEM BOTH! Argh. *headdesks*

*grins* Must mean you wrote it well then, eh? *folds arms, taps foot* There will be more, right? The ice has to break...

How about "Man Overboard"? *grins* Well, SNAFU isn't precisely a distress call, but, eh, if you're going for nautical/military angle, try googling distress calls for ideas.

*nudges you gently* Angst is good, but tempered it's more effective in the long run. ^_^ 'sides... Luffy wouldn't let his nakama stay unhappy with each other. Captain's orders. *@_@* (Luffy intervention... disaster in the making... *wry grin*)

Aaaaangst. *sighs* What stubborn, stubborn men they are.

I'm really happy to see that there was a continuation from the other two-- I very much liked how this one turned out as well.

*prods the comment above* Isn't like, Code Blue a distress call or something as well? Although, I believe it's related to medical disasters. *scratches head*

*glowers* Yes. Zoro's hair. I... I despise any and all attempts on my part to draw it. =>.<= *temper tantrum moment*

*holds out hands* Robin is innocent. She's been off busy dragging others into the fandom. Others that can draw smut for me more wonderful pictures for me-- only to get baked goods in return. =<<=.... I am tempted though; to break out a new bag of carrots. I happen to very much like this bunny. =^_^=

Hmm. The only thing I can say about this drabble without sounding too much like an absolute twit, is that I'd love to see more. This drabble begs for it.

Hell, even I would go down on my knees and beg for it.

Ahh... that's nice to know. I'll scribble that down for further use.
