Just in time, too.
Mar. 8th, 2006 08:02 pmI emerge from the depths of a horrible Smoker/Zeff kick to squeak something normal in under the wire! Oh, the crack!pairing, it eats my brain...
Title: A Fine Line
Word Count: 300 exactly (after much editing and fighting).
Rating: G.
Pairing: Implied Sanji/????, implied Zoro/Luffy.
Topic: Invasion of Privacy.
It was Chopper’s turn at laundry day, and that meant turning a big heap of smelly, grimy garments into seven neatly sorted piles of clean clothes. It also meant going through clothes and emptying pockets. Chopper actually rather liked this part—it didn’t get his fur wet, and he got to find out interesting things about his nakama.
Nami and Robin were usually pretty good about cleaning out their pockets, but every now and then Chopper would find something small and shiny. One time, Chopper had even found a beri tucked most of the way into the lining of one of Nami’s bras. He had contemplated framing it, as it was the only such bill ever to have escaped her grasp without a fight.
Zoro’s clothes were also usually barren of hidden treasure, and when Chopper found something, it was most often Luffy’s. Zoro and Luffy were pretty discrete, but not much hid from Chopper’s nose.
Usopp’s clothes were always full of random entertaining stuff that Chopper could play with. Unfortunately, Usopp’s clothes also had the most pockets, so they took the longest to search.
Chopper saved Sanji’s clothes for last, because they usually had love poetry and recipes left in the pockets. They made okay reading material during the boring parts of doing laundry, like right now. He opened the first crumpled ball of parchment and started reading.
I’ve never written anything like this to a man before, but I wanted you to know how I feel.
The letter promptly “accidentally slipped” into the hot, soapy water. Doctorine had taught him that there was a fine line between medical curiosity and invasion of privacy. Reading the rest of that letter would have breeched it.
Somehow, he doubted that Sanji would complain about him “missing” that particular piece of paper.
