Title: Tell
Word Count: 209.
Rating: PG-13 for implications.
Pairing: Sanji/Zoro.
Topic: Routines and Rituals.


Zoro has a small, small tell. Something that telegraphs his movements as he’s about to make them. Sanji’s learned to watch it—that’s why he’s so good at fighting Zoro, why the idiot marimohead can go nearly full out against him without worrying too much about Sanji’s ability to dodge the oncoming blows.

Zoro’s too good to let his eyes betray his movements. The bandana helps him there too, though Sanji knows he’s stepped over the line when that comes out. It’s not his eyes or his arms or his posture that gives him away.

Zoro can’t keep the pendants in his ear from swinging when he starts moving his head preparatory to a strike. And since Zoro’s head is very much involved in his fighting (even if his brains are not), Sanji has taught himself the patterns of those three little bars of gold.

If Zoro wonders why Sanji always gives those earrings a gentle tug with his teeth before moving on to more interesting places, he hasn’t said anything. Sanji thinks that the shitty swordsman just figures it’s part of foreplay, something random and odd that gets Sanji going.

It’s not, but Sanji is far too polite not to thank something that has helped him so much.

Poor Zoro...doomed to have people think he's a moron because he doesn't talk a lot and sometimes doesn't grasp important concepts like "North" and "you can't cut through electricity with swords." Sanji's so mean to him.

Eeek! Sorry, I just found your awesome fics and was reading through them, wondering if I should friend you or not. I was really, really on the line (since I don't want to come across as a random creeper) but I'm pretty sure this 209-words drabble just pushed...well...propelled me with the force of an angry rubber man over that damn line.

THIS WAS AMAZING! UGH. The characterizations, the smooth transition between Sanji's musings about fighting and then about sex, itself, was perfect. I like the way you blended their fighting with their love; I really, really liked this and everything else you've written! Do you mind if I friend you? :D
