Sanji’s cigarette rolling technique wasn’t overtly spectacular. Tobacco was measured and pinched with the same casual precision he used with his spices. After a few taps, practiced fingers rolled the thin paper as though it were delicate pastry. These, however, weren’t the steps that Usopp was intently studying through the shield of his sniper goggles.
It was the finishing touch to the process that he burned into his brain. The lightning-fast and butterfly-light way Sanji touched his barely moistened tongue to the delicate outer edge of the paper, then slowly and carefully licked the entire length to seal it before putting it aside-this Usopp watched again and again.
Later, when he imitated this routine along the sensitive tissue of Zoro’s scar, he wasn’t the least bit surprised that the swordsman recognized the pattern. He just wasn’t sure if he was all that happy about it.
