Title: Damn Pirate

Word Count: 300! (this whole “short” thing is a lot harder than it looks)
Pairing: Ace/Smoker
Topic: Flowers
AN: Hi. I’m new. This may be a bit crackish and/or OOC; my apologies.  My first One Piece fic(let) ever ‘cause I found the thought of these two and flowers too amusing to pass by and you have to start somewhere.  Comments/critique welcome.

Smoker growled at the mission report in front of him.  His attempt to explain his most recent psychotic encounter with the Straw Hat Pirates was not going well.  Damned if he knew how to phrase things so that he wasn’t lying to his superiors, but also didn’t come across as a complete fool for trusting a crew of pirates to do the right thing when they were the only ones who could.  Damn Luffy.  Damn this whole fucking era while he was at it.

Two quick knocks pierced through his muddled thoughts.  “Enter,” he snapped, recognizing the sharp raps of his second in command.

“Sir.  There’s a delivery for you.”  Tashigi’s voice was understandably puzzled, he realized when he took in what she was holding.  Grand Line shipping was expensive and there was no logical reason that someone should pay to send him what looked like a bouquet of flowers… that had been burnt to a crisp.

His eyes narrowed further as he realized the annoyance of the other D. brother was likely about to invade his day as well.  Stupid brats.

He accepted the crumbling flowers with a small card attached and dismissed his confused Sergeant Major without an explanation.  He could imagine the curiosity bubbling inside her at the thought of him getting flowers, blackened or not, and he was not in the mood to deal with it.

He glanced at the card and let out a frustrated huff.

I so enjoyed our most recent time together, Old Man.  I know these don’t begin to express my gratitude, but hopefully I’ll be able to come up with something better soon.

Stupid Portgas, acting like a damn jilted lover just because he’d been forced to leave at a very… inopportune moment during their last meeting.

He sighed.  Damn pirates.

I was like WTF? at first, with the idea of SmoAce and flowers, I have to admit.
But you pulled it off very well and had me cackling on this end at the idea of a burnt bouquet.

And thank you as well! Glad you didn't actually snert soda, I'm sure that'd be painful. =P Glad you didn't find it OOC, I see Ace as a very laid-back guy, but if you took away something he was enjoying greatly for no-good-reason (or so it seemed to him)... who knows? ^_^
