Title: Fine Lines
Rating: PG
Word Count: 300
Pairing: ZoSan
Topic: Edges
A/N:  How come it's so hard to translate seemingly interesting ideas into writing?  >_<

Zoro’s life was made up of fine lines.

The narrow walkway between life and death, success and failure, not to mention this constant dance between heroic genius and insanity that Luffy dragged the whole crew along on.

Then there were blades; slicing, beings sliced, and most importantly not being sliced by their fine lines.

As a swordsman on the Grand Line he knew he lived on a razor edge and a hair too far in either direction could mean disaster.  Luckily his balance was exceptional, and though he’d admit with a grin that he had jumped a time or two, he had never fallen.

Figures the shitty-cook would be the one to break his record.

For the newest test to his balance came in the form of a sauntering blond who just happened to be an asshole, culinary genius, and the ship’s cook.  Damn him.

He was irritating, irrational, and woman-crazy; it was a shame he was also gorgeous, could hold his own in a fight, and knew just how to push Zoro’s buttons.  He knew he should resist, but as their daily spats and sarcastic exchanges forged a rough camaraderie between them Zoro found it harder and harder to deny Sanji’s appeal as an equal of sorts.

Usually he managed to teeter between cutting off the bastard’s legs and kissing him senseless when he got annoying, but it was difficult.  The day he found himself smiling as he walked around a corner into a cloud of choking smoke and the savory smell of cooking meat that could only be associated with one person and felt his lips twitch up instead of down… well.

Zoro realized he’d come down on the wrong side of this edge and climbing back up to the top was going to be fucking difficult.

Heheh...I bet he was humming too XD Then Luffy noticed, then Usopp would agree, then Sanji would pop his head to see what all the noise was about and then Zoro would flail about in denial...leading to an argument with Sanji which then leads to fighting...and then touching then Zoro in a new balance of keeping his pride intact.

Totally. Who could deny that? :P

And thanks for the icon love! I wanted to use it right away, but really couldn't with the drabble I wrote this week.
