Disclaimer: The crack belongs to me but everything else does not. Damn.
As soon as Zoro woke up from his post-lunch nap, he knew that something was very wrong. He glared down at the group of strangers and growled furiously as the weird tree he’d woken up in shook slightly again. The squeaky, grinning man continued to shove on the tree despite Zoro’s hissed warnings.
“Hey, come down, Zoro-kitty!” The teeth-man was baring even more of his blunt fangs. It infuriated Zoro. How dare that human challenge him?
Of course his obnoxious human grinned as well, although never so wide, and it didn’t always mean a challenge.
Zoro considered this and the stranger’s cheerful tone of voice. Slowly he relaxed in the tree, releasing the smooth wood under his claws and sinking down into the flattened hollow of the tree until he couldn’t see the strangers anymore. There was a hole in the hollow and a ladder was stuck in it, nicer than any the scores of humans that had shipwrecked on his island ever built. Zoro pushed at the ladder until it fell and then leaned his back against the wall of the hollow, vaguely aware that both the shaking and shouting had ceased.
The strangers were mostly human, two males and two females. He assumed the toothy man was their leader from his strength alone. The other male stank of fear and wasn’t worth his attention. The tall female hadn’t spoken but the flame-haired one was shrill and loud. He disliked them both on principle.
A reindeer completed the group, built like a tiny human with hooves. Zoro’s mouth watered. It had been a long time since he’d had reindeer to feast on.
Zoro frowned, his tail flicking in irritation. Where the hell was he?
He’d been taking a nap in the sun, on the ground for the benefit of his human, contentedly smelling the earthy warmth of his mate’s pink, smooth skin. Then he’d woken up in the air, surrounded by water and wide-eyed fools. He was not happy.
“Hey, what’s going on?”
The familiar, husky voice made Zoro’s ears swivel back and he poked his head out of the hollow once more.
And there was his idiot-human-mate, ridiculously clothed in layers of dark material and fingering one of those disgusting smoky sticks he’d loved so much at the beginning. Zoro had been very relieved when he’d run out of the things, even if his mate had been extra annoying for weeks afterward.
Zoro leaped out of the tree and landed before the tall blonde. Ignoring the jabber of the creatures around him, Zoro circled his mate slowly, taking in his scent as though it were the first time all over again.
An irritating musky scent lay on top of a sweet odor but under all that Zoro could smell the rich, unique scent he’d come to know so well. Zoro stopped in front of him, still on all fours, and finally relaxed completely.
“Sanji,” he muttered contentedly and curled in on himself on the wooden ground.
This was either a weird dream or an ill-conceived hunting party, but if Sanji was here too it would right itself soon enough.
He fell back to sleep, visions of reindeer marinating in his dreams.

Date: 2006-06-23 11:53 pm (UTC)Short stories over 300 words, drabbles without yaoi theme and drabbles that don't match the week's topic are welcome but will not be considered for winning the theme.
I mean, I'll erase if this is too long for the community but the other parts are mostly shorter than this one so it seemed a little shortish to go on OPY.

Also we have stuff like three-parters that are technically 900 words broken into three and shouldn't really be counted, but still here posted here.
imho 500 words isn't pushing the limit. But eh, if the mod wants it off, then okay. Just saying. :/

Date: 2006-06-24 06:22 pm (UTC)Although people have done that here before in spades, so I guess it's possible. Just...damn! That's some talent there.

Date: 2006-06-24 03:29 am (UTC)By itself, no, but it's part 1 of 8. 500 x 8 = 4000 words.
Also we have stuff like three-parters that are technically 900 words broken into three
I'm not too fond of those, either, frankly.
I mean, it's one thing if you write a story, it does well, and you write a sequel or two; but if you start out writing a long story, why are you posting it to a drabble group?
Also, with some of the multi-parters, each part can stand on its own, and can be arguably considered a drabble in and of itself. But there are "drabbles" that you can't understand unless you read the other parts, which, again, kinda makes them not drabbles anymore.

Date: 2006-06-24 06:25 pm (UTC)I see where you're coming from and that's cool place, but I'm going to leave this up to the mods. If they want it gone, I'll kick its ass to the curb. If they don't, it'll stay here. Fair?

Date: 2006-06-24 06:28 pm (UTC)Things will get more smutty towards the end but probably nothing as hardcore as the doujinshi. Damn, but tiger!Zoro had a huge wang in that. I mean, ridiculously huge, right? It was kind of scary.

Date: 2006-06-24 06:31 pm (UTC)He really is! He sleeps all the time and tends to be a little possessive and seems to have disdain for most people that aren't him. He's a big, old, cranky tomcat.
Thank you for your lack of encouragement!
