Zoro sat back on his haunches, tail lazily circling the floor as the tiny, talking reindeer poked him hesitantly with his instruments.

 

There’d been a bad moment after his second nap when he’d planned on eating the reindeer but the toothy man—so damned strong and strange even for a human—had stopped him.  Then the reindeer had spoken and Zoro had smelt the lingering scent of a Devil Fruit deep within the tiny creature.

 

After that it would have been rude to eat him.  They were practically family.

 

“There’s no doubt about it.  He’s Zoro,” Chopper announced to the crew, hastily backing away from the tiger-man.

 

“What happened to him?” Sanji asked, voice still more biting than stroking.

 

Zoro snarled low in his throat.  No dinner and his mate had reverted back to the cold, prickly creature he’d been those first weeks they’d known each other. 

 

Zoro wanted to blame the strangers but they seemed as confused as he felt.

 

“Maybe he ate a Devil Fruit.”  Usopp suggested, watching as Zoro raised one hand, sniffed it, and then began licking it with slow, measured sweeps.

 

“A cat-cat fruit!” Luffy exclaimed, mimicking their changed friend’s actions, too energetically.

 

“That’s not such a dumb idea but it doesn’t explain why he doesn’t remember any of us.”  Nami cast a sly look in Sanji’s direction.  “Except for Sanji.”

 

A low growl that came from Zoro’s stomach instead of his mouth rumbled through the room.

 

“You guys can take us home later,” Zoro decided, dismissing all of what they’d been saying as human babble.  It was hard to pay attention when they spoke nonsense all the time.  He turned expectantly to Sanji.  “Feed me, cook.”

 

The pinched expression his mate’s face at the command had him feeling like he was back home already.

Yay! More Lost Zoros!

Plot is clarifying and I am intrigued. Zoro's reaction to Chopper and Luffy were awesome and as always, his treatment of Sanji is adorable. Such an awesome mix of cat and Zoro himself. I'm curious as to what he thinks of Nami.

Each chapter just hooks me further, so you'd better keep working on this!

Ah, Zoro. Such excellent feline characterization. Reminds me of my cat. ::glares at cat, which has made loud and persistant demands to be fed throughout the day, despite having food already:: Very feline.

And now, in feline tradition, I shall demand that you produce more of this fic. Promptly. Please.
