Someday...
Jul. 24th, 2006 02:19 pmSomeday I'll write something that doesn't make me want to pound my head into the desk from cruddy quality. Someday I'll be happy with what I've written. Someday I'll get over this cracked, cracked idea that's been gnawing at my brain.
Today is not Someday.
Title: Someday
Word Count: 300
Topic: Territory
Rating: PG
Pairing: Zoro/Der Tod, Zoro/Sanji
Disclaimer: I don't own any of the characters.
Note: Sequel-ish to Scarlet Blossom, which was written about two months ago. So yes, this is the Der Tod from that.
Edit:Now with picture of Der Tod...
Zoro walks the fine line between life and death. His fate, his destiny to be the Greatest Swordsman, requires him to master the dangerous balance between the two. Already he has rejected Death’s cold embrace more times than should be possible. Death can strip away loyalty and honor with a kiss, but passion…
It’s passion that’s kept Zoro alive this long. Every time the seductive and pale figure comes for him, he clings to the gold of Sanji’s hair as he spins into a kick, the blue of his shirt reflecting in his eye, or the heat between them in their fights. Sanji has no idea of the service he does Zoro, and if the swordsman has his way, never will.
Death, however, is a very jealous lover. Spurned, scorned, and cheated of Zoro’s kiss, Death haunts him like his shadow. His opponents take unfamiliar stances for brief instants, the promise of “someday” whispered on their borrowed lips, forcing him to be faster, stronger, and more cunning than the opponent to whom all swordsmen will one day fall.
Sometimes he dreams of Death, fair and luminous in the dark, tempting his nakama away with promises of everything they ever wanted to have and be and find. Sometimes-- and only sometimes-- he wakes from a nap to see Sanji dancing by to dote on the girls, and there’s a flash of something pale around him. Dark eyes drink in the same sight that saves Zoro; a white hand ghosts through golden hair and rests on the nape of Sanji’s neck.
Death smiles as Sanji stills, leans in to claim the kiss that Zoro denied him.
The next thing Zoro knows, he’s tackled Sanji to the floor and claiming the cook’s lips for himself.
One day Someday will come. Just not today.
End

Date: 2006-07-24 07:37 pm (UTC)I can just see the pale shadow lingering around Sanji, caressing and taunting Zoro with the knowledge that he can take away the passion that is keeping Zoro alive... *shivers again* I even now see it in your art style thanks to the wonderful comics you sometimes post.
I have no idea what Der Tod is from but I love this anyway.

Date: 2006-07-25 05:21 pm (UTC)Isn't the performer just? This is one of the more frilly costumes, but the play was set in the late 1800's, so some ruffles and things are to be expected. But oooh, sparkly...
