Title: A Simple Understanding
Rating: eh... PG-13?
Word Count: 219
Pairing: Luffy/Zoro (ZOMG!New for me!)
Topic: Rock
Luffy told Zoro that he was like a rock once. The swordsman gave him a funny look and went back to sleep. Luffy had only nodded and smiled. He couldn’t explain it more than that to the other man, but Luffy knew … and that was all that mattered.
Zoro was like a giant boulder in a little pond. Luffy could jump from stone to stone, shore to shore, but then would always return back to the boulder. Back to the place he knew he would be safe. Would be warm and fed and happy.
He understood that Zoro was his constant. His grounding force. His steady. His calm. Zoro was everything he needed when adventures had him flying off the handle into situations he couldn’t always control. Zoro dove into the water when he found himself helpless. Zoro made sure his back was guarded during every battle. Zoro watched out for the ship and the crew that meant so much to him.
And sometimes, when Luffy would get that little flurry feeling in the pit of his belly, he would look to Zoro and the other man would meet his gaze and nod. Those times were always the best, because Zoro would stretch and gasp and arch beneath him, and Luffy would always know that he was home.
