Rating: PG, I guess.
Word Count: 265.
Pairing: Usopp/Zoro.
Disclaimer: I do not own One Piece. If I did, Spandam would have been strangled at birth.
Summary: Fluff! Kind of a sequel to my fic, The Departure of the Great Sogeking (http://www.fanfiction.net/secure/live_preview.php?storyid=3033754) which is up on fanfiction.net, but it also stands alone. Post Enies Lobby, but not exactly spoiler worthy.
All was quiet on Mugiwara no Luffy’s ship. The pirates who had defeated Cipher Pol 9 had finally finished their celebrations and had gone to bed in a drunken haze of victory and eternal friendship. Even Franky, who could hold a prodigious amount of alcohol, had finally sung himself to sleep. Only one Mugiwara remained awake – the long-nosed sniper, until recently known as Sogeking, now simply Usopp again, sitting up in bed gazing fondly down at the snoring green-haired swordsman next to him. He had only recently begun to realize that this was something he had wanted all along – even right from the start, when he had been too naïve to know what he was feeling. As time had gone on, and he had learned to drink, there had been the odd sexual encounter between them; few and far between indeed, but often enough to be more than just a passing fancy on either of their parts. If only either of them had been a little more open, a little less hesitant, a little less certain that real warriors didn’t fall in love… then perhaps they could have been happier sooner.
But then, he reflected, laying his curly head on that muscular chest and snuggling more securely into the embrace of those strong arms, perhaps it was only for the best. He couldn’t imagine being happier than he was now. Zoro grunted in his sleep, tightening his grip on the sniper. Usopp smiled drowsily. It was true after all, he thought, as his eyelids began to droop, good things did come to those who waited.
