Title: Time for the Important Things
Topic: Time
Word Count: 227
Rating: PG-13 (swearing)
Pairing: Ace/Smoker
Summary: Can a pirate really fit into a Marine’s life
*******************
“Leave, Portgas.” Smoker held only vague hopes that this time the little idiot would listen. He refused to spend the night with a wanted criminal, again. He also flat-out refused to have an argument about why he should, again. “I don’t have time for you and your idiocy.”“Fuck that, make time! I’m here now and your paperwork isn’t going anywhere.” But Ace wasn’t making this easy.
“I have more important things to do.” I don’t have time for you. My life doesn’t have time for you. Smoker bit down hard on that thought, but it looked like Ace might’ve caught a hint of it in his eyes anyway. Sometimes the whelp was crafty like that.
Ace twitched once, on the verge of leaving, attacking, or laughing the whole thing off, damn if he understood the boy well enough to guess. But the face-off held, both sides glaring stubbornly and refusing to submit.
It was true; his life really didn’t have room in it for this brat of a pirate. There was no place in his schedule, heart or morals for the foolish boy. Which is why there decisively was not any kind of empty feeling left behind when fire flickered out to the waiting skiff below, leaving no indication of when or if it might return but an angry growl.

Date: 2006-08-17 03:40 pm (UTC)We do love silly ideas, and there should always be more SmoAce in the world. ^^ (Plus, any end is usually better than abandonment, both for the writer and the readers)

Date: 2006-08-16 04:12 am (UTC)I want to keep working on these two so I can eventually write a longer story about them, I just have a hard time internalizing their relationship. I imagine that Smoker would struggle so hard against it I need to work out exactly what forces are working against himi
other than mad wild attraction of course.no subject
