Save Every Day...
Aug. 16th, 2006 10:27 amTitle: Box of Memories
Topic: Time
Word Count: 100
Rating: PG
Pairing: Zoro/Sanji
Disclaimer: Not mine. Probably just as well. Here, have them back... Song lyric's *still* not mine (and credit still goes to Jim Croce).
Summary: Treasure doesn't have to be tangible.
Watch as I spam the community... Okay, this one *is* (mostly) the drabble I originally wanted to write for this topic, although it fought me all the way.
~~~
He wanted to keep them all. Like jewels trapped in amber, all the colours of emotion wrapped in smoky gold and sealed away. Treasures more precious than platinum. Images, sounds, scents, sensations. All the things that went into memories. Or fantasies, when made to come true.
But all he had left was an empty box, in the shape of a brass-bound treasure chest, that had once held tiny slips of paper on which he had been instructed to write wishes. And a promise.
If his treasure was intangible, it didn't matter. Zoro would always have gold-shrouded sapphires to gaze into.
Date: 2006-08-16 04:16 pm (UTC)This one took me longer to warm up to because I found it hard to understand with a lack of context but I decided to base my interpretation on the last line and spin the whole thing 'happy' or at least... satisfied.
'cause he always has gold-shrouded sapphires to gaze into for real right... not just the memory of them (I hope)...;_;I don't really understand the box reference either, but that might be because I haven't seen or read huge chunks of the series...
Date: 2006-08-16 08:26 pm (UTC)The lyrics to the song in question are here (http://www.sing365.com/music/lyric.nsf/Time-In-A-Bottle-lyrics-Jim-Croce/8EE7AD1D6A83D38E48256A40001AAEDE). Which should help make more sense, hmm?
The box... is a present, sort of like a book of coupons for services, only not exactly. Does that help?
And yes, for real, because he has a promise.Definitely a happy drabble, if a rather... thoughtful one.no subject
Date: 2006-08-16 10:02 pm (UTC)I am going to steal you and keep you forever for using my FAVORITE Jim Croce song for a drabble (is not a stalker is not a stalker is not a...). XD Seriously, I loved it. Descriptions like Like jewels trapped in amber, all the colours of emotion wrapped in smoky gold and sealed away were just absolutely gorgeous.
