In the end, it always came down to him.


A pride too big to ask for help, honor bound to the ones no longer here.
He had ignored that pride, and helped out just the same.

A heart grown cold with lies and the heavy weight of an entire village.
He hadn't cared about those lies, and lifted the weight off those shoulders anyway.

A soul so frightened and lonely, walking in the footsteps of greatness.
He had known about the greatness, and still he'd snuck his warm arm around those shaking shoulders.

A mind to stubborn for it's own good, tainted by obligations and memories of a merciless sea.
He couldn't understand the obligations, so he just held on tight and pulled even harder.

A love cold and bloody, crumbling under the white heat of fury against mans cruelty.
He was never scared of wrath, so he laughed and laughed until that love started to warm up.

A trust torn and broken, until it couldn't afford to let anyone near ever again.
He never wanted the past, instead he stood there in the crossfire until he got as close as he could.



They were all bound together by fate, and Luffy was the red string.
