Kuro had always thought the heart-shaped glasses looked ridiculous, but if it wasn’t for them, he might not have recognized his old first mate when he passed him on the street. They were the only thing about Jango that hadn’t changed. Gone were the oddly stylish clothes and the matching hat, along with what little fashion sense the man had used to possess. there was something different about the way the man carried himself, too.
“Well, isn’t this unexpected.”
Jango spun around, startled by the familiar voice. When his gaze fell on Kuro, he swore heavily and took a few steps back.
“What do you want?”
“My first mate,” was Kuro’s answer. “We’ll be leaving this island in two hours. If that isn’t time enough for you to pack your belongings, leave them.” He turned to leave, and barely reacted in time to dodge the chakram, though it did tear a hole in his right sleeve. He was behind the other man in a split-second, one hand on Jango’s throat.
“You’re still much too slow, Jango.”
And then Kuro was suddenly lying on the ground and bleeding from a nasty cut on his cheek. A pink-haired man was shouting at him. Dizzily, Kuro wondered how he had managed not to see him approaching.
“…AND IF I EVER SEE YOUR FACE AGAIN, I’M GOING TO MESS YOU UP SO BAD, YOU WON’T REMEMBER YOUR MOTHER’S NA-“
He didn’t get to finish his rant, because Kuro was already gone.
